Strategic Organization Creation – Project-Program Office

This presentation represents the work product of carefully re-constituting a firm’s stategic focus, by centralizing the rationalization process for all new business ventures, both in terms of finance and function, and then tasking that new organization with the necessary cross-functional responsibilities to ensure successful program implementation and integration.

Prior to my involvement, much of the cost or process rationalization was either missing or disjointed resulting in false-starts and wasted dollars. This presentation is representative of what was really the culmination of over year’s worth of effort, during which a considerable re-orientation was required in order to set the stage for the firm’s future success.

As a practical matter, it was best to create a centralized entity – a combination Program-Project Office – the Program Office portion to effectively launch any prerequisite new functions and determine the necessary changes to policies, procedures, and core-functions in a manner that properly balanced tactical needs and strategic focus – and the Project Office portion to manage the derivative, customer engagements in a methodical, performance-driven fashion, based on organizationally “vetted” program metrics.

To smooth the transitions in program deployment, and enhance cross-functional coordination, an administrative layer was created within the existing organization to rollout changes to functional areas, and to provide for greater accountability throughout.
